At St Clare's we have a certain way of doing things.

Here is a list of a few of them to help with your transition into our school. Some of these are specific to English and some apply to all subjects.

 

ACCELERATED READING:

- You will do a short test to determine your reading age.

- You are expected to borrow books from our library within your reading age.

- At the beginning of every period 1 lesson (in every class) you will do 10-15 minutes of silent reading (where you will read the books you have borrowed).

- When you complete each book, you need to complete an online test for it.

 

ASSESSMENT TASKS:

- For every subject you will need to complete a range of assessment tasks throughout the year. Each task has a set due date and you are expected to hand in your assignment before or on the due date.

- If you require an extension (must be a very special circumstance) you need to see me AT LEAST one week before it is due.

 

STUDYWIZ:

- For every subject, your teacher will upload the unit outline and assessment tasks onto Studywiz. That way, if you forget to take home your assignment sheet, you can find it online :)

 

EXPECTATIONS IN ENGLISH:

- In English we read a lot! As a result,

- you are expected to read every text that is assigned. If you don't you will have a very hard time understanding what we do in class.

- you are expected to always bring the text that we are reading to every class.

- you are expected to bring your accelerated reader novel to every class along with any other materials that I ask you to bring (textbook , etc.)

- if, at any time, you are having any difficulties, you must come and see me so that we can work through it together :) .
