Beliefs practices in ancient Rome

Our lifestyles are influenced by the traditions and beliefs were inherit from our families and communities in which we grow up. Some of these influences have a very long history. They may go back generations, even centuries. Others may reflect the recent influence of friends of a different culture.

It was no different in ancient Rome. People's customs and beliefs were often a mix of those they had inherited from their forebears and from the cultures of societies they conquered. Together, they had an impact on how the ancient Romans lived.

Gods and Goddesses:

The rulers of ancient Rome did not belive in one god like we do. Most of their deities were the equivalents of ancient Greek gods and goddesses.

Song writing!

In groups of 3, you are to write a song about Ancient Rome.

Your song can be about one of following:

  • A Roman God or Goddess

  • A significant Roman person (for example: Julius Caesar)

  • A significant Roman legacy (for example: the Colosseum)

  • OR A combination of everything you’ve learnt about Ancient Rome so far

Your song needs to include relevant information about your topic and a catchy beat! You will be performing them next lesson to the class. You might want to use the tune of an existing song and change the lyrics.

Please print a copy of your song to hand to me next lesson.

There will be prizes for the groups with the most informative, clever and entertaining songs :)
